There is another major wildcard I think. As this http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3821/is_200604/ai_n17179259/pg_15>article suggests, fundamentalism can grow and split up the rank and file in the army. Some of the troops may refuse to strike the jihadis. This can greatly disempower the army, the only durable institution Pakistan has known. What happens next?
