India’s Wall of Death

Namit Arora Avatar

Inspired by Israel’s example, India is building a 2000 mile border fence with Bangladesh, patrolled by 80,000 armed guards. A good part of the fence is already finished but abuses by the Indian guards are rampant. Scores of migrants, farmers, villagers, and cattle herders have been shot for getting too close to the fence. The Border Security Force (BSF) kills and maims with complete impunity and no Indian soldier has been prosecuted for a crime. Read more about this disturbing story here. 1. Ok. This is the story. Now exactly what the journalist want and how one country should protect his boundaries from infiltration. The situation in Assam is worsened due to Bangladeshi refugees. Nepal border is open and large amount of fake currency notes are brought in India. No story for covering that issue !!!

  2. well,I am absoluetly agree with,India is building a 2000 mile border fence with Bangladesh, patrolled by 80,000 armed guards.I would say every boder croser gun down on the spot after second(no 3 warning) warning there is no Excuse for boder croser no, never not at any cost. They know the Boder line why they cross ,inocently haa haa what a good Joke ,Sorry sir by mistake I cross the boder….Fuck the bloody Fake cruncy, wepon, drugs smuggler Bengaladeshi/Nepali Refuges/ prosti… woman.I wanna say we must seal all boders with Pakistan,Begladesh and nepal. They always miss use our frindship so they should stay where they are ??

  3. Is our national identity coming at the price of our humanity?

  4. Without justice and fair play, no morality can exist in the society. Vinod, tell me “how one country should protect his boundaries from infiltration ?” Drawing clear boundary is the better way to prevent those killings. And still u want to smuggle your way into India, any soverign country will protect itself from arms..

  5. “Protecting” boundaries? How are poverty struck farmers and women a threat to India? What is it about the mindset of Indians patrolling those borders that makes them trigger happy at Bangladeshi targets?

  6. The whole assam is burning due to this problem of immigrants from the Bangladesh. The ethnic conflict has arose due to this impotent stand against illegal immigrants. The entry of Bangladeshi terrorist organization Harkat-ul-Jihad (HuJI) in NE is also due to open border condition. The terrorist camps operating in Dhubri and Bongaigaon in Assam are getting recruit from those poverty struck workers of Bangladesh. It is difficult to keep counting blast in Assam. Money can never compensate the loss of a precious life and in a way it is an insult to the victims of the blast. Although in some way it serves the purpose. Assam have been subjected to years of suffering by the extremist. Yet nothing effective has been done by the government to check militancy. For this, all cross border movements from Bangladesh must stop. I also think that govt. should bring out a White paper mentioning the names of the madrassas and mosques that are involved in terrorist or jehadi activities.

  7. I don’t think gunning down Bangladeshi immigrants is going to check terorism in any way. In fact, it is likely to have the opposite effect giving more recruits to the terrorists cause. Terrorism is not dealt with by heavey handed military power.
I think one needs to be more sceptical about this dogma of security that nations are using to strengthen their militaries. This demonstration of might has more to do with grabbing economic opportunities in a globally competitive world than providing any real security to anybody.
